Not that I'm well experienced in post processing, but I suspect that some dodging in the dark areas might help, but also if possible, in the future, if there'd be a way to time the shot so that you get the car out from the shadowed area. I'd probably look for a better spot for taking the shot, but since I'm unfamiliar with your location, I'm not sure if a better location was available to you. Plus, you did manage to get close enough for a reasonable shot.
WIth what you have, I think some post process dodging might work a little.

Did you choose save for web? If so, that strips EXIF, use save or save as.
I deleted your other critique thread. One every 24 hours please.

I agree that having some of the car in the sun and some in the shade does distract from the shot, however I would have to say congrats on getting a quite sharp shot with a great panning blur of the background. Composition is also very nice with the car having some room in front in which to "drive into". I know just how difficult these shots are to take!

I wish I could attend one of these events. That would be great, but I can only hope that maybe I can do this at some point later in my life.

Indeed that is a difficult shot to get. That bad for starters-keep it up!
Dropping the shutter speed and panning will give an even better sense of movement.
I know how hard these shots are from my first trip to the British touring cars last weekend, so well done!
