Hey guys, my Aunt and I were talking about cameras and she told me that she had bought a film SLR back in the 80's (and still has it), its Nikon N2000, and she listed the gear she had with it.

Considering I never knew she had it, I'm thinking she doesn't use it much so I'm thinking about asking if she wants to sell some of it, are these things compatible with the D50?

Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro Large Aperture Wide Angle Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras

She also has a Vivitar Zoom Thyristor 5200 flash unit, would that be compatible as well?

I'm thinking the lens would be compatible since its a DG, but just want to check first...

As far as lenses being compatible, Nikonians has a list of compatible Nikkors (http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html), and Sigma also has a chart at the bottom of their lens page (http://www.sigma-photo.com/lenses/lenses_chart.asp). As long as the lens is AI (pretty much anything post-late 70's), it'll work.

As far as the flash goes, it looks like it's kind of iffy if you can use it or not. There was a discussion on Nikonians (http://www.nikonians.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=17161&forum=DCForumID201) about it, and here's a list of flash voltages (http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html) with suggestions on whether or not to use them. Good luck :)
