I took this picture midday at the local racetrack when they were having amateur drifting/racing competition. what do you all think of the overall composition? I feel there might be something lacking from it. Also what about cloning the cones out? I have not played with the color at all yet. Whoever would like to modify this picture for the better is more than welcome too! Thanks everyone

I think the shutter speed was too fast. I found that with car shots, they don't look like they're moving if you really push the shutter.

A lack of speed caused by the extremely fast shutter speed. Too much foreground. A less head on angle would help with composition. Get closer if you can.

Definitely needs some cropping.

^ WHS ^

Good panning technique and a much lower shutter speed should help inject that feeling of speed here. If the track is local and they have regular events it sounds like a great place to practice:cool:

This is a rather poor attempt but too tired as end of day to put too much effort in

yes the speed is too fast so i can't see any "FAST HONDA" on your pic.. just a stop car...
i try adding some motion blur so as my eyes can see the "fast honda"

* Shudder *

* cringe *

Step away from the computer :D I suppose it could have been worse and somebody might have tried selective colouring on it too!

Sorry but trying to rescue shots in photoshop really does make me cringe and shudder.

Ha ha have a calamile tea and youll be right! the playing around in photo shop is not an attempt to rescue the shot rather to give an example of what should have been done with the camera, so relax chill out

need to get in closer.. and slower shutterspeed.

a fast car will need a blurred background.. so even small DOF can halp achieve this without too long a shutterspeed.

I think I should have chosen a better title, by "fast" I did not mean that I caught the car in a way that would represent speed but rather around here in Utah we pretty much make fun of all the hondas due to hardly any of them are fast. that aside thank you all for the feedback and doing your own PP to my picture!

yeah. a horizontal motion blur (of your background) puts the added illusion of a car going super fast. you might want to practice panning with the car as this can be achieved with slower shutter speeds.
