Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has a Sony Alpha 700.

The Alpha 700 is my first SLR.

I am a bit overwhelmed, there is so much I know it can do, but everything seems to be a bit beyond my knowledge. Well, I guess SLR is out of my knowledge at the moment.:o

Maybe I got a bit ambisious with making the 700 my first SLR, but I am hoping I can eventually learn all about it.

Just wondering how others like theirs?
Do you have any tips?
Does anyone have any book or DVD, learning guides for the 700 that they recommend?

Thank You!

I also bought the a700 as my first SLR and didn't know much about it but with the help of Scott Kelby's books and these forums i learned more about it and how to use it. I've had it for about 3 months now and absolutely love so i would suggest just going out and trying diff' things as well as reading these forums for tips.

I am also considering the A700 for my first SLR when I upgrade from my DSC-H50, Im sure they are a great camera. Dont let all the setting detter you... just grab the camera and shoot away, learning by trial and error can be good fun.

I purchased the Sony Alpha 100 when they first came out, Love the camera, and no I want the A700. IMO I would spend the extra money now on the nicer once versus waiting and going with a lower model. I Love my camera but the SS on the A700 is awesome.

Wow lilmissdisney...nothin like jumping in the deep end of the pool without a life jacket huh?? LOL

I bought the A100 when it first came out but recently updated to the A700 which is a major improvement in image quality and features. If you have'nt done so already, I suggest updating the firmware to v4 that was released recently. It adds a few more functions but also improves image quality again.

Just wanted to update this thread and say I got my A700 a couple weeks ago and LOVE it. As Ewie noted, the features and improvements over the A100 are awesome. Now just need to sell the A100. :-)
