i was lucky enough to catch my future all-star's first hit. i wanted to know if the backround is too busy? did i crop it too much....any more and i would lose the ball in flight. anyway i look forward to getting some tips...thanks to all.

i don't think you cropped too much......i know you wanted to capture that hit, so as you said there's really no tighter frame for whay you want....is there room to rotate the canvas so that the horizon is straight?

i like your other images even more.....tight makes that busy background more of an enviroment for the slugger than a distraction.....

thanks for sharing

theres not much you can do about the background.. thats the way the sport is..
nice shot (the first of the second post)

the first image does lok like the camera was held at an angle.... i could be wrong.. it could be just an illusion

I think this is one of the times you want to violate the rule about giving objects space to move into, mostly because you're trying to convey the idea that the ball is busting out of the picture.

I do agree with perhaps recropping it after you've rotated the original slightly.

Oh, lucky you! I bet you are so proud to have caught this shot! You usually don't have a lot of background control in action shots. Plus in this instance it adds to the pic. I agree the horizon could use a little straitening, and if you know how to use photoshop, etc. you could do a little selective level adjustment just on his face to brighten the shadow from his helmet (but this is not necessary).
Crop looks fine. Great job - will be a wonderful memory!

Love how big the ball seems compared to the batter. Would like to see the horizon line straightened...
