There are so many diffrent types of Orchids and i would really love to see most of them. So I am wonder if you all will help me out here. Well some species grow in diffrent parts of the world and can't be grown in others. I am not sure how many we have here but I am surely checking to see how many I can find.
I wanna know if you all will help me out by posting pictures of the diffrent types of orchids that u may have taken. Please do put the names of them if u know the correct names.

I just posted some orchid shots. You can see more on my Flickr page. The striped one is called a Tiger Orchid and they are from Thailand. The blue/violet one is just dyed. I just went down to my local florist and they had others as well.

WOW! No post! Did you sharpen in-camera? This is really sharp! And, I LOVE the symmetrical highlights in the background.

Nope. I used a String Tripod (http://www.instructables.com/id/String-Tripod/) to steady myself since tripods aren't accepted in the conservatory. And used a film canister (http://www.flickr.com/photos/natuurplaat/10362363/) to diffuse my flash that I used to fill-in the flower. Otherwise the flower had a weird shadow and I would have increased the ISO to 1600. I had read that someone else had used a defused flash to fill in flowers. So i gave that a try and ended up using that for quite a few indoor shots. I am also proud to say this is with a Kit lens (EF28-90mm f/4-5.6) :) It came with my 35 mm Rebel K2.

You know, I built a string tripod, and have yet to actually use it. You've given me incentive. Now, I've got to find a light film canister... :)

No photos of orchids but did you know that the name derives from the Greek όρχις ‘testicle’?

Y'see... now, I'd've guess it came from the other gender...
