Hi All,
We will be sending our college son to study in Germany this summer. Does anyone have any advice about carrying his camera equipment with him on the plane. How about airports as regards to customs, insurance for the camera etc.?
Thanks

I traveled to Europe in October - Spain, France, Portugal - and carried my camera and equipment onto the plane as hand luggage with no problem. There was plenty of room in the overhead compartment and under the seat (that is where I placed my camera bag). For customs I carried the original sales receipt (it was a new camera and kept a copy of the receipt in my other luggage and at home) but, they didn't request it. As for insurance, depending on the value of the camera and equipment, my homeowners insurance covered it as part of the contents of my home - check your policy.
I hope I've been able to help.
Hope your son has a great experience.
Bye,
Raquel
