My pal Eddy, jumping high into the air while snowkiting. Another kiter is behind him.

My question is: can you really tell what's going on in this image? If not, does it matter? Is it just too weird? I realize that snowkiting is not a widely known sport.

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1600)
Aperture: f/5.6

I think I'd be able to figure out the nature of the sport in the picture, if not snowkiting exactly.

Really, it's quite a striking photo. I find I'm staring at it for a long time. Normally I'd say something about the lack of detail in the background, but I think the stark white works perfectly here. It's unusual, and others may disagree here, but I like it. I also like the blue hues at the bottom.

At first, I wasn't sure of the placement of the two main objects in the frame, but the more I look at it, the more I think it helps with the scale of the kite and the person.

This is a really great shot.

I really enjoy the fact you can't see the kite of your friends but you can see the kite in the bottom left, it's a different view on things. I can tell what's going on because you can place the kite from the bottom left above your friend and put the image together in your mind. Really cool image!

I like the composition, but I feel if there were more ground in the shot it would give the feeling of flight and would tell more of a story of where the rider came from. Great light, great shot... It's a good one as is! Sports are super hard to capture.

Very cool shot. I didn't know there was such a sport as snow kiting. I think it works well, and it's almost like a magical universe where his kite disappears at the top, but shows up in the bottom left.

Unique perspective that works for me!

I've heard of kitesurfing but never snowkiting - guess that's because I'm a floridian..we don't get much snow :D - great shot! I love the contrast and focus on the subject.
