Ok after a couple of months of being without a camera, I decided to take the plunge and get a PENTAX K20D my first dSLR with the SIGMA 18-50 and 70-300 kit lense (on backorder). :D I am looking at getting the 10-20mm after a while.

I have taken some test shots (of the moon obviously) at high ISOs with the 50mm and am very impressed with the capabilities of the camera as much as I can tell with my limited experience. JPGs straight from the camera are very good with minimal noise.

Will take it for a spin over the easter break.

Thought I would share.

Cheers

Congratulations Arun!! So what did that unit do to your checkbook...in other words, how much was it, if you don't mind me asking?

Here is my 2 cents: if you can swing it, get a Pentax 50mm 1.4. You won't regret it. I paid$197 (US) for mine.

My first DSLR is the K10D and I love it. Although I have a long ways to go before I understand it all. I was going to take some online courses......even free ones but its kinda hard to get out and take photographs when you are stuck in the hospital and then stuck indoors and then just when you are well enough WHAM -30° or snowing 12 inches. GRRRRR I can't wait for spring. Today was beautiful but working on taxes and waiting for the dude to come and do an appraisal........not much time to get out. Now they say rain for the next 7 days.
