Again, as a beginner, this is my first try at macro-

Hi Deb and a belated welcome to DPS.

Firstly, to get the pedants off our back, it's not a macro it's a close up. Macro is where the image on your sensor is as big or bigger than the real thing. Difficult to do, but....

As for your close-up...

I'd have gone in closer, picked the best bloom and set my DoF to blur the rest.
