Im not sure what this plant is, I think its some sort of vine, anyhow I was really hoping this shot would be more dramatic.

with the two colours and sizes I thought it would really stand out but it seems to be a boring plant shot.

Not sure what I can do to make this photo more dramatic though I do plan on shooting it again on a sunnier day.

Suggestions for making this shot more dramatic?

ArghMonkey,

Two things might give drama: get closer, and wait till later in a sunny day:

Your photo has the color and interest, although a little muted. Background takes attention from your subject, by its brightness and detail. Change everything once in a while: time, angle, background, size. You'll find what you want eventually.

Perhaps a tighter crop to bring more of the attention to your flower/plant.

Like Mr. Cricket said, get closer/zoom in. Fill the frame with your subject.

Also, the eye tends to be attracted to brightness. So the bright flowers around your subject are drawing attention away. That is where getting closer or zooming in would help.

Try a different angle. The first angle you see might not make the best photograph. Walk around the flower if you can, or look at it from the sides.
