Ok, a few days late... but here it is. This week's WWYD is from Teewinot, one of our constant contributors.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarahhallphotography/2282398679/" title="El Morro, San Juan, Puerto Rico by ~Teewinot~, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2349/2282398679_52b6f4d8ee.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="El Morro, San Juan, Puerto Rico" /></a>

Available larger (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2349/2282398679_52b6f4d8ee_b.jpg)

The rules are simple. Use the picture, edit it however you want, come back and post your picture and explain to us what you did so that we can learn from it. Easy, right?

If you want your picture used for one of these threads, just drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large size of the image. I use them in the order I receive them, so fear not, if you don't see your image right away, it will be used. :) Now, let's see what you would do!

Would have liked to have done something but can't open it. :(

I'm seeing both links... Are you having any other problems with Flickr? You can check on this page (http://www.flickr.com/help/test). Hopefully it's a temporary thing for you moi.

All green ticks from Flickr.
Saves as a GIF file from the smaller shot and my laptop won't 'display' the picture. Won't save from the larger picture at all. Never mind. I'll try another one, later. Thanks.

Nicole,

Both are OK on PC, WindowsXP, New York, etc.

Must be my laptop-just won't show 'all sizes' in FLickr!! :(

Moi, I don't allow my 'all sizes' button on Flickr to be seen by anyone, so that's why Nicole included a link (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2349/2282398679_52b6f4d8ee_b.jpg) to the larger image from a different source. I hope you can get it to work! :)

Many thanks to Nicole for emailing me the picture.
I'm a complete beginner to post and only have access to BASIC Flickr edit facility. (WHen FLickr works out how to process my 'very foreign' credit card I should have access to Pro!)

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sibelius/2315419484/" title="dps3 by sibeliusx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2138/2315419484_16ce1f4e49_o.jpg" width="313" height="300" alt="dps3" /></a>

So-I cropped out the 'bald/dry' grass and some of the crenellated wall, people on the left and rubbish bins.
Sharpened what was left.
Increased clolour saturation.
'Softened' the outside edge of the cropped picture.
Kept the shadows of the people.

A 'simple' effort and am looking forward to seeing what the 'pros' can show me-the shape of things to come! :)

The link works fine for me.

I thought I'd save them a bit of a walk ;)

Nathan deGargoyle, I like it! Neat idea.

Liz Caldwell, LOL! :D

* Boosted saturation
* Rotating mirror effect- upper corners and then lower corners. Cloned corners that were blue to green
* Geometric effect-circle-transparent
* 3-d effect drop shadow until i liked where it was at. merged layers

First Time playing this but basically cropped, cleaned up the grass, removed the people and trash cans. Then I felt like clouds would look better, so I added some. All done with CS3

Copied the people out into new layers, offset them a bit, luminosity blending down to about 50% opacity. Copied out the funky sections, set blending to either dodging or burning, some of them have hue adjustments. Bumped the saturation on everything, then threw in a cross-process curve layer. Quick and dirty.

My very poor attempt, this is why I don't do much in PP on any of my photos, but I guess its fun to play with now and again!

Cropped photo, adjusted curves so it was similar to a HDR, used cut/paste to move bits of sky, grass, and rock around. Used smudge to even lines out a bit, then did a Gaussian blur over the whole thing.

Eight layers, separate adjustments:

- Crop to upper right, clean the background, skew to portrait
- Separate each person onto a layer, add new shadows
- Rearrange people, to fit new background
- Apply two gradient dark layers to focus attention towards fort

windrider86, funky! Neat edit!

Wanman, you are right...the sky definitely needed clouds! Excellent work, I love it.

jdepould, cool effects! :)

KodiakStar, simple yet effective! Nice rule of thirds crop.

jiminyClickit, impressive as usual! I like the depth it adds to the shot.

I'm not very good at this, but anyway...

Cropped, cloned bad grass, signs, other ppl etc. Overlayed a blurred layer. Overlayed a gradient layer. Added a bit of a sunburst. I think that's it.

laepelba,

Waiting for your photo to download, I was thinking Giant Foot smushing the tourists. Or the Hedgehog searching for Dinsdale. Your way is better. (Have you met our new member, "two sheds?" For real, another fan)

I started working on this, I didn't like what I did so I dumped it all and came back to get a fresh copy and can't seem to open it in my PS this time :( Am I doing something wrong or has the file change somehow? I have tried copying from here and from flickr.
