Recently I replaced my "old" PC with a PC running Vista and since then I have had problems when transferring images from my Canon Digital Rebel XT to my PC. When I use the USB cable and the Canon software to move the RAW images the files are damaged during the move. However, I've found when I take the CF card out of the camera and move the images "manually" everything is fine. Has anyone else had this problem and have you found a fix?

I've been running Vista for over a year and I have never used a cable to transfer images. This method always gives me the willies - expensive, delicate camera sitting on my desk, cables dangling, near my elbow. It always seemed to be a disaster waiting to happen. I transfer via the removable media exclusively. Does the camera show up as a drive when you connect it? If it does, can you simply drag and drop files off of it? This would allow you to ditch the Canon software.

Thanks for the reply. I've already removed the software from my PC. I don't want to take a chance on losing more photos.
