I am new to to photography. I took this picture at a charity track meet in Minneapolis, MN three days after I got my camera. I haven't gotten myself the lens that I want yet but I think this show it pretty decent. Let me know what you guys think.

I felt lucky that this shot came out due to poor lighting on the track. I was about 2m from the subject sitting on the crown of turn 1 of the 400m. Thanks for all your comments.

Generally, in shots like these, you'll want to compose so people/things are moving into the frame, rather than out :)

Great work with the panning. It's a very nice effect. However, with motion, you generally want to give the subject somewhere within the frame to go. A composition like yours would be excellent if there was another runner behind him.
