Wanted to get a picture of the frozen ground, and it looked too plain with just ice and dirt. I found a leaf with a hole in it, and shot through it instead.

Looking at the bigger version the focus appears to be on the ground and much of the leaf is out of focus. I assume from the shutter speed a tripod was used....focus between the leave and the ground and stop down enough to get both sharp as depth of field extends both infront of and behind the point you focus on. If you focus on the nearest or furthest object (particularly in macro) you waste DoF and end up having to stop down even further to compensate and may end up reducing overall sharpness with diffraction.

I wanted the ice to be more in focus than the leaf, because that was my main subject. I just wanted the leaf as framing pretty much.
