This is a shot of my cousin from this summer. I took it with a Canon Rebel XT and a macro lens.
Shutter speed: 1/100
Aperature: 3.5
focal length: 60 mm
ISO: 800
I love portrait photography, but I'm not sure if I am really catching her emotion in this one, or if it just looks like she's laughing at me taking her photo. Any suggestions?

As you can see, there isn't any image. Do you need help posting it? Try reading the FAQ or feel free to ask if you're having problems.

Also, a portrait may be better if it were posted in the Portrait Critique section:).

As far as catching emotion, the first thing I thought was "brain freeze." Then I noticed someone looking her way in the background and figured it was laughing, since she seems to be drawing attention to herself. I think you captured the emotion very well.

From a technical standpoint, the macro lens was a good choice for this photo.

Like peeperita, I think it would be nice to see more expression in the other person's face. For some reason I feel like I need to know what that other person is thinking, too.

I agree blur him out totally or put him in focus. Where he is at now is very distracting. Nice and tight on her face and tells a good story. I was thinking she really liked ice cream.
