Hello, first post here and I thought I would share one of my most recent shots.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2241/2271047155_04fe17eeb8.jpg

Camera: Nikon D200
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/7.1
Focal Length: 60 mm
ISO Speed: 100

I only shoot manual, which sometimes works against me in situations where I need to be quick. More EXIF data and plenty more images (with an abundance of macro shots) can be found at my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/oliverdodd/

I welcome critiques (constructive or destructive, whatever suits you) on any of my photos.

01001111, Welcome

You are among a handful of first-time posters who must have read the Guidelines first, for which we thank you! Well done, and your Flickr stream is quite a study in control of dark and light, something I admire.

The lizard, even though small and centered, is interesting because of the setting and darkness, and the alignment of the head with the background color. Looks sharp, so you were quick enough. Manual is working for you, a true learning experience.

I would try a portrait crop, just to make subject appear larger and even more interesting.

Thanks for the critique. I'm not one to pour over manuals before first using a device but I always try to read the rules before engaging in a new activity.

Cropping is something I'm always hesitant to indulge in but I think many of my shots would benefit from. Being a perfectionist, I try to compose the shot well but still have trouble masking my perceived failure in post-production.
