This is my first post. Wanted to get an opinion on the composition, as well as the colors (saturation, contrast, etc.). Overall opinions are good too.

I'm new but it seems a little dark to me, but a sweet *yucky* picture!! Cute

Ha! Awesome capture. I love how sharp it is, and of course that look on his face is priceless. If I were you, I would crop it a little tighter to remove some of the distracting background and get rid of that light fixture above their heads.

i'm not the best at photoshop yet, but could you describe a bit the best way to remove the light fixture?

Hey. I just did a quick PSP job with the smaller image, hope that's okay.

If you like it, here's how I did it:

Crop, clarify, blur/soften background, unsharp mask, a little extra sharpening on the important parts of their faces (eyes, mouths, etc), reduce brightness on highlights (so that her face wasn't overexposed)

kami, nice capture of a tender moment....and one i would treasure for myself....

i do think this image would benefit from a crop more off the left hand side, placing your models more to the left than center....

thanks for sharing

thanks, peeperita...

if i cropped more of the left, wouldn't they be in the center? or maybe i'm looking at this wrong...

kamikaze_productions, Welcome

peeperita has a point about the extra room. In your original, view from left to right slides you out of the frame quickly, drawn by the light shirt stripes and sister's face. After lightening and blurring b/g, a flip leaves subjects that draw a viewer in slower, darker face, lighter face, dark blouse. Light diagonal is more obvious. Subjects are lifted away from b/g. Point of interest (eyes, kiss) is nearer thirds intersection.

Many thanks, folks. Adobe PhotoDeluxe, early version, friendlier PhotoShop program simply has a list of functions based on Orientation: Horizontal/Vertical Flip, Rotate Left/Right 90 degrees, Free Rotate. So I just click there. Many programs call it Mirror Image.

In this scence, you could get closer to the subjects to make it more personal. Getting closer would also eliminate the awkward positioning on the person in the background, who seems to be morphing out of the woman's back.

Great Shot. I like the light in the background but not on the basket. I also prefer your sister on the left, nephew on the right. Toning down the brightness of the white stripes on your nephew's shirt would help draw viewers to their faces.
