This is a image created with the older Canon 300D & the Canon 75-300mm lens.
I was on the edge of the pond early one morning and wanted to get some of the various grasses with the sun coming up over the pond.
It was quite foggy that morning, with the fog hanging about 3ft above the water.
I opened the lens up at 5.6, mounted the camera on the tripod, and started shooting.
This image is fairly close to being accurate.
I selectively enhanced the colors at about 25% in photoshop, and defined the sun a bit more than what was initially recorded. (Give it more of a edge)
The suns color was changed slightly from a red/gold color to a more rose/pink color, ... hoping to help give it a bit more of a oriental feel.

That is beautiful! From your title I was expecting a reflection of a sunrise...this is so much better! It looks almost like a painting.

Great work, though I would like the top to be a bit clear with the pink things.

Thanks gang!
Actually, there is more detail in the top portion of the image.
A designer wanted to see this with the top portion blurred in order for the stem to exit the frame not so abruptly.
I created it for them and eventually agreed with them, ... although the detailed version still looks good as well.
Thought I would post this version.
A matter for the tastebuds I guess! :)

How did you define the sun?

Thanks!
Well, the sun was not a total circular "blur" and it had a bit of definition on the edge.
I simply used the "selective color" filter/tool in Photoshop and selected the color that I wanted to darken.
By darkening it ever so slightly, it helped to give me a more pronounced edge.
Then by using the "burn" tool, I adjusted the size of the tool to the same size of the sun, burned it at about 25%, ... and that was it.
Sometimes after using this method, you may have to use the blur tool to go around the edge of the sun, as it just may turn out to be to well defined. Just blur that edge of the sun to where it blends in with the rest.
Hope I made some sense here this morning.
Those winds in this area pretty much kept me up all night!
Thanks again,
Mike
