Caught this guy in the distance while I was driving so no tripod possible and you can see from data it was shot at 300mm. I knew focus would be tough so I upped the f-stop while shooting fast enough as he was walking. What could I have done to get better focus?

I think you did exceptionally well with this shot. Depth of field looks to be about right for the area and motion involved. The slight blur in the feet is not objectionable. Did you try any at ISO 400?

No, did not try ISO400, this was just a quick snap it an he was gone sort of thing, so I just quickly picked my settings and pressed the shutter. No second chances.

them birds just are not one to pose for very long. I think you did exceptionlly well with this guy. The one and only thing I might suggest is down at the bottom corner is something that I think could be very easily clond out.
Now next time can you get him to pise with a worm?
