Taken with an Olympus OM-1 with 50mm1.8 lens. Apeture set @ f11. It's a 6 second exposure. Lit with a single 40 watt incadestant light bulb. The toy sat still for the first 3.5-4 seconds, then pulled backward for the remainder of the exposure. Background was black cloth. Black thread was tied to the trailer hitch of the toy jeep to move it rearward. Unfortunately it is visable in this photo. I shoulkd have tied it on the axle instead. Also I didn't have a very steady hand while moving the toy. There's a change in the blur pattern 1/2 way thru the move. Any ideas from ya'll on how to get a more consistant movement would be appreciated.Sorry for the poor quality scan. My diosaur scuzzi scanner ain't the best.

You could try gravity as your friend. If you tie a small weight to it (you'd have to experiment a bit to get the movement right, i.e. not too heavy and not too light) then it would accelerate gently backwards.

You'd want the string tight before letting go so that when you let the weight go it'd pull the toy evenly getting faster as the weight drops more.

Might have to experiment with something like that myself...
