For the first time I decided to take a class in photography at school, the interesting thing about it is its all film based! (Though I'm ultimately prefer digital) I'm really enjoying learning about film, as I have never really tried it (other then the yellow kodak disposables ). Well this is one of the shots that came from my first batch in the darkroom and I'm fairly excited about it. The only post processing work I did was clean up some dust that was on the scanner before I scanned it into my Aperture library. The black border was from the darkroom enlarger tray (on purpose). On a side note I found that film is forcing me to take more time on my photos because I only have so many shots. This is forcing me to think more about each shot I do take. So I believe this will be beneficial to my digital photography as well.

Let me give you some info on the shot. It is of my girlfriend, who gets really excited about the rain because she can get dressed up in coats, and her burberry umbrella.

Camera settings: Canon A1 (from the late 70's:D) I believe I used an aperture of 5.6 but I can't remember and a ISO film of 400. I don't expect criticism on the film settings since this is a digital photo site (but they are appreciated.)

Thanks for the critiques
~Nick

Really nice image I've always wanted to do more film myself. I really like the border I really need to spend some time creating actions that create the same border. I reallly like film borders around images.

As for the image I like her expression. It's also good that you kept some of the hands in the frame holding on to the umberlla as well. I like the angle you took this image at the cropping is good as well. The lighting is good but when it rains usually it's overcast so the shadows are less harsh did you take this when it was about to rain or was it sunny out? The background gives me the impression that it was a sunny day.
