We wandered around the Arboretum the other day I got this shot of the Gazebo from the main path. I wanted to show the Gazebo from this vantage point, but I wasn't sure if the fact that the entire Gazebo isn't shown was distracting. Your opinions and help are appreciated! Thanks!

I like this photo quite a bit. It has a real southern charm. I do not find the top of the gazebo missing a problem, but I do find the flowers at the bottom very distracting.

I would crop up to the just below the bench and then clone out the few random leaves that are left. Then you would have a beautifully framed sunny inviting gazebo.

I like the composition, but feel that had you lowered your camera to just off the ground, and shot this, you would have captured the entire gazebo. I really like the way the trees frame the building. It may have cost you the band of grass (lawn), but with the entire structure, this image would be magazine worthy. Nice job.

Thank you for the advice! I'm going to play with the cropping and get rid of the lower portion with the flowers.

We have another visit planned in the spring and I will try to shoot this again from a lower angle and see if I can get the entire gazebo in.

Thanks again!

I hope you don't mind but I adjusted the crop and the levels just slightly. The original was great and I hate to see the bench lost. For some reason though it just feels like the gazeebo was leaning to the left but according to the grid it was pretty straight. But this is what I came out with without the gazeebo being centered.

Again I hope you don't mind that I adjusted this.

I think Gazebos make great photos, in fact I just took one this morning which I am posting below as an example (not to steal your thunder). Not that my shot is perfect by any means, but you might want to use it as an example of not centering your subject, which sometimes will actually bring more attention to it:

Thanks Kirbinster and Rislone!

Rislone, I don't mind at all that you played with the cropping. Now with that crop and if I can get lower and get the whole gazebo in, I'll be good to go :)

Kirbinster, that gives me more to think about when I go next time. I liked the way I had it framed with the trees, but your right it was dead center. I'll have to spend more time and move around and explore other views.

Thanks again!
