6 months into photography.
Still getting to grips with the camera and photoshop.
Any comments / constructive criticism welcomed.
The bottom corners are a bit off but that is because I edited with a trackpad on my laptop whilst waiting for a flight, I am interested in comments aside from those two obvious problems.

This is two shots stitched together, no other mods.

C@pture,

This is a lovely photo of the subject; and, yes a different view. While it has been many years since I visited Hong Kong, I have never seen this view until now.

I find myself being distracted by the cantilevered airport tower on the left top corner of the frame. To me, it does nothing for the beautiful, intriguing shot of the city. It does even provide a reference point in the frame...at least for me it doesn't

Now the V-shaped topograhy does offer a bit of unique framing for the subject.

The detail and focus in your landscape shot is quite good by my eye.

Please always include your EXIF in future postings.

Good shot.

I agree with most of the above except for the bit about the tower on the left; I think that contributes to the overall picture.

With it cropped out the picture would be more symmetrical and have less interest. The tower adds a foreground element. I particularly like the glowing red light, which makes it appear like some kind of giant robot and makes the whole shot take on a very sci-fi appearance.

ps. C@pture - your other two threads got removed because there is a limit of one new critique thread per person per day. Being new to the site you are doubtless keen to get stuck in but it is worth taking a little time to check and heed the rules (see sticky posts at the top of each section) - you can repost those two shots on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This is a great and unusual view of the Hong Kong skyline. I really think the large building at left combined with the skyline, all properly exposed really makes the shot. I also like the feel of fog or haze over the city lights, it adds atmosphere.

You mentioned that this is two frames stiched together, and I notice no obvious signs of the editing work, which is good.

The challenge we all face when capturing well known sights is to see it in a way that is just enough unique to make it stand out. You've done that here. Congrats.

I love it!! I have never been to Hong Kong and this makes me want to go there all the more. I don't agree with the removing tower thing. When I looked at it it didn't take my focus away from the rest of the city. If you were to crop the tower out it would ruin the shot. It almost adds like a depth of field to it. It makes you want to look beyond to what lies ahead.

Great job!!

Thanks for the input everybody, you have explained to me what makes a good picture (and what doesn't).

Hopefully I can aim to include the same techniques in future shots.
