Hi Everyone,

I am quite new to photography, just got Canon EOS 30D about 6 months go so I am still learning all the basics of photography. I thought I'd submit one of my photos to get some critique.

There was a shadow from another tree that I removed using photoshop.

I think the background (behind the fence) is distracting but you be the judge.

There's another version of this photo on my flickr. Basically I took this photo, made it b&w and cropped it. You can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertdobes/2224976516/in/set-72157603808771097/

rodob, Welcome

The fence and the tree being close in hue and lightness, dominate the scene. But how interesting are they? Waiting for a good tree shadow (from subject tree) across fence might make a difference, or wait for background to get darker and one side of tree.

i think the composition of the shot's pretty good.

@jiminy - that's a good idea with the shadow. Unfortunately the fence is ending right at the right edge of the photo and the sun was coming from the left. I guess I will have to get up early for the sunrise :D to have the sun come from the other side.

Thank you guys for the comments. I really appreciate it.
