Took a set of 3 shots with intention of stitching with photoshop. Well, I did a pretty good job I think with the stitch, however, once I got it stitched, I realized I could add contrast to the sky and make it look even better. Using my magic wand I selected the sky, however, a few trees got selected in the distance. It doesnt look right if I leave them out of the contrast, and doesnt look right if I include them. Any suggestions? Other than that, what could I have done to make it better? Thanks for the input! :)

I had to reduce the size to conform to posting requirements, so comparing the original could be easier if viewing the larger size here:

All 3 original shots were taken with the following specs:
f/25
1/8 sec
ISO 100
Focal Length: 22mm

Nice work on your first panoramic. Have you also tried the free program called "Autostitch"? It can be downloaded from www.autostitch.net. I have used it to stitch as many as 12 images together. You will notice that the sky can be a challenge when doing broad panoramic shots as the intensity of the sky changes with the direction in which you are shooting. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I really like your first photo without any thing alter . Once you altered it as you pointed out urself the tree in the background stick out more then the rest of the picture . My eyes just keep wondering back to the trees. Great job .

GNS, I see you have the same shot in two different critique forums....one the orginal and the other in post processing thread.
Things like this should be combined and posted in the Before and After thread.

i think you were headed along the right path attempting to add contrast to the sky as a whole.....perhaps you could improve on your technique.....
now you may have already tried duplicating the image to apply your contrast.....when you used your selection tool you could have deleted everything but your sky on this layer and applied your contrast technique until you were satisfied......and then.....those little bits of "tweeked" trees could have been erased carefully......
thanks for sharing

xxpinballxx,
Yes, I'm sorry, I accidently put this in the other forum, however, it was not a critique forum. It was the "Technique" forum. I was unable to delete the other thread. I originally put it here and it was deleted because of the horizontal length of the image. When I re-did it, I put it on the wrong forum by mistake. So I edited the other thread to take out all contents and posted "sorry, wrong forum" in its place. I was unable to delete it, however, I deleted the content of the post by editing it. So, this image is not currently in 2 forums. You can delete the other one. I was unable to do so or I would have deleted it myself. This is my first post in several months and I was not used to the new design.
I wanted critique, and that's the reason I specifically wanted this to be in the critique section. I came here to find out what I could have done better with this shot because this site used to be a good place to get that. It seems like all I am getting now is that I should not be posting here.

gns1497,
Read the rules, understand them, realize the Critique forum is for anyone willing to receive serious Critique who will also post according to site requirements. Your thread would have been deleted on sight by some; I gave you more time than is required, or appreciated.

Jiminey,
Yes, I realize this Critique forum is for anyone willing to receive serious critique. That's exactly what I wanted. And I do understand the site requirements and rules.
I think what happened was that you put my original post in another thread and the other moderator thought I had posted it twice in 2 different sections of the critique forum, which I did not. I tried to edit my original, but after you closed it, I could not. I thought it was closed for good and did not realize you were going to edit it and move it to another forum. I then entered it again according to the requirements (600 pixel max on longest side and only one image on the post) when I thought you had deleted my original. Had I been able to edit it, it would have saved a lot of confusion. Then, I think a 3rd moderator actually combined the 2 threads.
I do think you are spending too much time worrying about segregation of content and not enough time actually critiquing shots. In my opinion, that takes away from the usefulness of this site. I understand the reasoning behind it and the necessity for the new "share your shot" section and for the differentiating of it from the "critique" section, but I think its being taken a bit to the extreme when those that post 1 time asking specifically for critique to have to read 6 responses on why their post should not be there in the first place instead of actually receiving the critique. Sorry for the length and the frustrated tone. I hope you can see and understand why I am so frustrated.
Thank you to the few who actually provided critique of the image.

Thank you to the few who have taken the time to read, understand and use the requirements for posting in the new Critique area. I'm sure you know that we'd much rather be looking through your photos than taking up space explaining the reasons for having a set of posting guidelines in the first place.

Ok, I gave this one more go. I worked a little harder to get rid of the "loud" trees after contrasting the sky.

Let me know what you think. Some preferred the original, just curious if this changes your mind. Anything else I could have done or may have missed? Thanks!
