I haven't posted much for quite some time, but feel like I need to get some feedback to improve.

Any thoughts on this shot? What could improve it? What are the weaknesses? What are the strengths?

Thanks in advance,

PC

I've re-opened this thread because the only thing missing is the exif info, and if possible it would be good if you could include it. The new critique rules are here (http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10887). :)

It's quite a serene looking image here. I like the reflection, though I find that the close colour between the hills and water makes it almost look like the boats are floating. Very peaceful looking though.

being partial to any water pics, I really really like this alot. The name really tells the story of an approaching storm. I love the reflection. Please include Exif info. Frame it- it's beautiful.

Very nice Composition. The sky and clouds look to have some noise not sure if SIO is to blame or if you upped contrast in post causing it?
really nice shot run it through Noise Ninja or some other noise removing app and hang on the wall!

Sorry about not including it the first time around.

Taken with a Canon Rebel XT
Focal Length: 109mm
Shutter Speed: 1/1600
Aperture: f/4
ISO: 100
Exposure bias: -1/3

Does that help?

Nicole, I'm not sure that I understand your comments about the boat floating (aren't they supposed to float :D?). Are you saying that they look like they're floating in space instead of floating in water?

kimspics - Thanks for the nice comments.

xxpinballxx - I applied a gradient in post to bring out the clouds a bit more. I'll try running it through some noise reduction to see how it comes out. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for the great comments.

lol yeah, that was what I meant ;) That it looks like they're floating in mid-air. Way for me to stop typing mid-thought lol

I like this a lot. My only problem is the grey band in the middle. Is it hills on the coast? or dark clouds? or a tsunami about to engulf us? I think we should be told! ;)

It's a mountain across the water. I guess it's obvious to me since I took the shot, but I can see how someone seeing it for the first time might wonder.

Nicole, thanks for clearing that up. Any suggestions on what I can do so that these don't look like alien aircraft?

What do you think are it's weaknesses and strengths?

Superb image! The only suggestion I could make is that it could be treated as an HDR to extract a little more detail from the dock and boats. And I don't know if the results would be any better - might be worth a try though.

I like it. I love water shots but it is nagging at me. Maybe it needs to be brightened somehow? I know that it is before a storm and it should be dark, but I can't put my finger on it.
