I don't normally try taking a portrait type pic but when I was holding a friend's granddaughter, I just had to try to capture the little tear that was left from her crying spell. I tried using natural sunlight from my front window to capture the tear itself and thought making it black and white would help do that as well. Let me know if i was right. I love baby pics. :) I took this a while ago and I believe I did some cropping to try to make the tear the focus of the pic.

Hope I managed to capture the mood I saw in the shot.

I really like this. The black and white does help, as well as the natural lighting. Well done.

Nu2this,

Hi. I think the black and white is a fine choice. The pacifier is a tad distracting given the title of the photo.

Takes lots of baby pics!

Thanks for the replies. I was happy I chose the b&w in the end.

I did think of the soother as I was taking the pic and it was all I could do not to pull it out.....but seeing as I had just got the poor little thing to sleep, the mom in me kicked in and I decided against it. ;)

I'll keep trying. I love taking baby pics.

Anything like my 2 kids were as babies, you would get your $&$# kicked for pulling the pacifier out. Colic is NOT fun.

Great shot. I do love the natural light and the B&W conversion as others have said.

Thanks for reconfirming my decision. ;)

I've never used photoshop. Is the soother too big to be removed from the pic without altering the baby's natural facial features?

Thanks all. Still learning.... a lot!
