Nice photo ,I like the idea ,very creative . I suggest that you place something on the dimond like a small card , something that your camera can focus on , where it is clear it would be as hard to focus on as water drops . with your camera set up on a tripod ,and your shot comp in place ,set the timer and place the paper on the dimond ,press your shutter half way to get your focus , hold ,remove the paper and and press the shutter down , I think that should work , it does with the water drops .
