I bought the canon f1.4 because I have a new grandchild and didn't want to be setting off hundreds of flashes in her eyes everytime I see her, I liked the bokeh that the lens produced better than what I saw from the Sigma. In hindsight here is my 2c....I sent back (3) Canon lenses because the focusing ring was so loose and sloppy I couldn't believe it, I'm a toolmaker, a $400.00 lens shouldn't be loose and sloppy. I finally kept the 4th one because I got tired of sending them back, at that point I would have "settled" for the Sigma if they weren't on backorder at every photography store that I would do buisness with. Personally, I find the images produced "soft" and "fuzzy", it's one of my least favorite lenses, I avoid using it at all costs, but the "bokeh" is excellent !!!.......If I had it to do over I would have been more patient and waited for the Sigma.......that's just my experience, alot of people have this lens and are happy with it.

regards.
