Default Cultures around the world being in India

Hello and Namaste to everyone!!!

I am new to DPS family and immature in photography. There is a photography contest going on in my company in Mumbai. I am taking part in that. The contest comprises of 3 rounds. In first round the theme was as such:

'Being in India capture the different traditions of different countries such as their cuisines, festivals, attire, religious beliefs, monuments, religious places, art, lifestyles or anything you think captures their culture.'

I took a few shots and posted the one attached here for contest entry with following caption:

"Sculpture portraying villagers of Masaai Tribe from Southern Kenya; The most recognizable tribes in Africa"

Since I am new, I would like to know your opinion on how I shot, my understanding of the theme and what I could have done better.

Where Was it Taken?:
--- In a shop
What settings did you use?:
--- Auto
What gear (camera, lens etc) did you use?:
--- Canon EOS Rebel XS with 18-55mm lens
Why did you compose the shot as you did?:
--- No idea what does that mean
What post production work have you done on the shot (if any)?:
--- Increased midtone to 29 on Microsoft Picture Manager
What were you hoping to achieve with the shot?
--- Tried to capture the people and their attire from the sculpture
What did you do well?
--- To make sure whatever I am clicking makes absolute sense to the theme.
How could you have improved it?
--- No sure... need guidance

Warm regards,
Ravi
