If you have already sprung for a wide-angle ... the average filter-ring on those is 77mm. You do NOT need to have a step-down ring involved. I kind of took that into consideration when I choose the 77mm diameter choice. Also, consider a low-profile CP-filter if you find the edge of the filter getting caught at the very wide focal lengths. Low profile filter do not have the front filter threads on them, so the screw-on lens hood and ens cap will not work. You will, more than likely, need a "press-on" lens cap of some type.

Now, if you need an 82mm CP-filter to fit your wide-angle SIGMA 10-20mm f/3.5 DC EX Zoom lens or 20mm f/1.8 DG RF EX, just buy one and stop screwing around.
