Default Assignment: Economy

Ghost_Town_9

I went today to our local "ghost town" to get some shots that demonstrate the economy. There are about 20 or more unfinished abandoned homes. A couple of years ago a building company purchased a huge amount of land and decided to build new homes. The homes were sold and money was put down on them before they were finished. The builders went bankrupt and everyone who invested money in these homes lost everything. And to make it even better the township slapped those little pink "no occupancy" signs on the doors...so even if the home owners wanted to move in a finish the houses themselves...they can not. It is a very sad situation.

I did take a lot of photos and I'm posting them on my flickr. There are even some areas where the foundation was laid but that was it. There are roads that lead to no where, piles of unused foundation block and debris everywhere. The houses have been sitting like this for well over a year. Some of the areas of the "ghost town" I didn't even want to venture into...even for a photo. Toooo quite, desolite and abandoned.
