Agree with Quintin!!.
More than look great, I believe, the logo should reflect the characteristic of your photography and your skils.
* Use of Specific colors eg Flickr. they are simple fonts but with different colors
* Adding Lines to your logo.. too much of them make them look crap.
* Should help you use it anywhere, on any background.
