I honestly wondered if this would have been easier with a macro, but since I don't have one, I made do with what I had. I do think that there's the potential for things to turn out better with a sharper lens though.
Also, it looks like you had good results with the gel

Thanks for the compliments guys, this was the first time it really turned out, so I'm still working on getting the most out of it. I guess I'll have to try doing a few more with the white backgrounds in post.
