Smile Railroad Crossing

On this one (and the others in this gallery), I went out on a photo drive with my son... no real agenda other than we wanted to take some railroad crossing shots. All of the shots were bracketed HDR, handheld, at +2,-2,0. Camera is Canon 40D and lens is Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM.

This one in particular was shot at ISO320, f/8.0 in Av mode. Initial processing/cropping/color corrections done in Lightroom 2. Then the images were passed to Photomatix for HDR auto-alignment (remember, handheld) and tone mapping. Finally back into Lightroom for more tweaking. The border and signature was added by the LR2/Mogrify plugin.

The next thing I'd really like to do with this image is to turn it into an animated gif that has the lights flashing like a real railroad crossing sign.
