Ok, it will hold the camera on the back of a chair, but what happens when the dog goes racing thru the house after the kids, or the cat, and bumps the chair? Most likely, there goes your camera in the floor. Having devastatingly loose a camera, because of it falling, I'd rather not chance it. I think that getting creative about how to stabilize your camera would be better than this thing. I just wouldnt trust it. I can see the practical use of bean bags for other things, but not for $40. I spent less than that on my tripod, shipping and all, and I love it. If you want a bean bag or something like this, the things to make it would equal A LOT less than buying one.
