Default Need help/suggestions for a plant photo

Not sure where to post this as its not landscape/wildlife or macro LOL
If this is the wrong spot please move it for me to the correct location

I took this shot as part of the week assignment but didn't use it.
What I like: I like the different colors and rich rain forest greens
I like the DOF EXCEPT for the blurry foreground leaf.
That is where my issue really is ~ how distracting is the foreground blurry leaf? What could I do to take this from a *good amature shot* to a real *WOW* type photography? The plant is in my backyard so I can practice on different things with it. Its all a learning experience for me and I am TRYING to challenge my skills a bit more. Maybe had I gone with a higher number AV? Would that have brought the foreground leaf more into focus?
