Highbrassduo -- You're welcome! As you can see from the rest of the conversation here, my "lesson" is certainly not a complete overview of bokeh, but it will provide some basic guidelines for shooting macro.

Wulf -- I couldn't agree more. My favorite thing about this exercise is that I didn't plan it. This was just a natural progression that occured while I was out shooting and experimenting with my own gear. Experience will always be the best teacher!
