My 8 yr old loves my point and shoot and does very well with it so we have had a couple of photo excursions to the park and the lake.....shoot alot and then look at them together and ask her if it is any good or not and why. We do the same with mine. Helping to think a bit more critically...Helps her to see me delete photos of my own that I do not deem worthy due to whatever faults. She is beginning to see compositionally....It is alot of fun to "talk it out" with the shooting. Now that she's shooting, take her out and tell her to think out loud what she's trying to do with the camera and ask her questions why and how? It will be a great communication exercise and interactive experience. I find that I grow alot too. Good luck!
