First you need to know the diameterof the"circle of confusion" for your lens- I imagine this to be around.006mm. To explain hyperfocal distance: if your lens is set to shortest focal length- 7mm,using an F-stop of F4 (equivalent to F11 in dslr DX/FX terms) and is focused at 2.2 metres,all will be acceptably sharp from 1.1 meters to as far as you can see.
Depth of field is better explained as:
Depth of actual focus is 1/3 in front of focused subject,and 2/3ds behind.(Approximately)
