On that particular image (333x500px) it is extremely easy to correct.
Make a layer on top of it. Set it on overlay blending mode. Select 14px round soft brush and set on 5% opacity. Brush over the lighter area with dark brown eyedropped from his cheek. If needed make another layer on multiply and brush some black on the lightest parts like the area next to the hair. Maybe use some dodge on the nose if you like.
