I had a quick peek at the original, and my best guess is that what you are seeing is not noise or grain, but just the effect of the trees on the hills in the very background being filtered through haze. So yes haze is the problem I think. Nothing to do with the camera, though a polarizing filter can help cut the hazy look.
If you are doing post processing, one thing to try is local contrast enhancement to see if that gets rid of a bit of it.
