Setup is pretty simple for this one. The geode slice is sitting on a pane of glass with a white T-shirt under it for diffusion. The light (an SB-600) is directly below that only a few inches away. My camera is on a tripod with the lens at my closest focusing distance and I move the rock, not the camera between shots. Remote shutter release used because the focus is very fine and I don't want to mess it up (manual focus used).
I thought I would need almost full power on the strobe for f/16, but most of the shots ended up being in the 1/32 to 1/8 power range, so there was plenty to spare . . .
