Default Ten Minutes From Home (16 July-30 July)

This week's assignment is Ten Minutes From Home". Walk, bike, drive or fly exactly 10 minutes from where you live and shoot what's there. No 9 minute or 11 minute trips.
Here's my contribution. Thought 10 minutes would take me right by a bucolic farm with cows and a landscape even a non-landscape photographer like me could handle. Unfortunately, unforseen roadwork ate up my time and I ended up parked by the side of the road with nothing but weeds and gravel, cars flying by, bright sun, no shade and a stiff breeze. Trying to make the best of it, I took out my trusty 50mm and shot a flowering weed. Blurriness caused by the wind made me do a little work in Photoshop. A good lesson in dealing with unexpected conditions!

A review of the contest rules might be helpful:

1. The image you submit should be taken between the July 16 (when it was announced) and July 30 (up until one of the moderators closes the the mini-contest).

2. EXIF data needs to be intact. It helps if you can include the main points (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) in the text of your message.

3. Your post must include "Assignment: 10 Minutes From Home" to show your permission to count it for the contest.

4. Only one entry per member (if you can't restrain yourself until the end of the first week you can post two or three separate pictures but your entry should be in a separate post and the only marked with the text above).

For everyone, please do not repeat other people's photos by quoting them until the contest is over. If you want to comment on or discuss an entry you can use a link to it (or just delete the picture from the quoted text).

Next week's assignment: "X-tych" (diptych, triptych or anything up to 7 pictures formed into a single image with multiple panels). For help, try these sites suggested by Nicole:
