The XTi still uses CF cards. It's the XSi that uses the SD cards. I'm not sure if the CF cards will go the way of the dinosaur. A lot of people have invested a bit of cash in CF cards so I don't see them going away any time soon. Maybe in 5 years you'll see a decline in their use but by then I'm hoping to have a new camera too.
