Very nice series of shots Jiminy and you and Saralonde are definitely right. It is a fun and challenging idea. It was one of the first assignments we received when I was in a Digtal 1 class. The instructor called it "The Thing Itself," but that was the gist of it. Pick a "thing" and photograph it in as many ways as you could think of. Different angles, above it and below it if possible. Look for shapes, patterns, angles, reflections etc. It is surprising what you can find of interest in the most mundane things if you look at it long enough and from a variety of perspectives. Things we pass every day without giving them a second glance.

Another assignment we were often given was a neighborhood one called "9 pictures." This was a weekly assignment. Simply put take 9 pictures around your neighborhood. One week it might be 3 showing time (time of day, time of year etc.), 3 showing color, 3 showing detail. The following week it might be 3 pictures that represent "hot," 3 that represent "cool", 3 black and whites. It went on for weeks with different sets of 3, but it opened our eyes to the photographic opportunities within your own neighborhood.

I usually carry some kind of camera with me. Often it is just the Point and Shoot on a belt clip or in my glove box, but I have really been trying to get in the habit of taking one along at all times.
