I am using Lightroom 1.0 and I really like it. I can't really speak to advantages over Aperture but I can say Lightroom is very easy to use and do many advanced things. There does seem to be a problem that creeps up if you use an Nvidia graphics card with Nvidia drivers but it isn't anything that can't be worked around. It integrates very well with Photoshop but I find myself only editing 3 or 4 pictures in photoshop per import which speaks highly for Lightroom's abilities. I don't think I would have purchased Lightroom had I had to pay full price but if you can get it with and education or some other discount then I think most would be very happy with the software.
