I'm not a huge fan of camera tech rags, as the info given in them is generally fairly easy to find on the internet for free. I have a 3 year subscription (gift) to American Photo, which is okay, but not fantastic. The articles are generally pretty good, but it's not a particularly good looking magazine. And dear god, the ads. They suffocate the articles.

Cue JPG Magazine.

Big, thick (almost card-stock) pages that are beautifully printed. No ads - instead, different sections of the magazine will quietly boast they are 'supported' by brand x, and give that particular brand a mention on that section's title page. The idea behind the magazine is that readers will submit their best work (usually with a given theme in mind) and then the readers of the magazine will vote for which shots should appear in the issue. I admittedly have only read the most recent issue, but it's a really remarkable magazine that I intend to subscribe to. Besides the user photos, there are also quite a few very useful and well written articles that appear in every issue.
