Default Textures are addictive!

I too have been bitten by the "Textures" bug that seems to be on the rampage at the moment! I have played around quite a lot with using textures to change (hopefully enhance) the feel of an image, but this is the first time that I have used one to basically change the background of an image.

This is the finished product:-

Autumn is in the air!

and this is the original straight from camera :-

oldenburgia-2

I didn't like the busy background, and don't have the skills to extract these fine hairy seedheads from the image successfully so I;

1. Cropped and sharpened
2. Copied in a shot of some copper sheeting which I over-enlarged and blurred slightly.
3. Created a layer mask, and using an opacity of about 30%, cleared the texture away progressively from the areas I wished to keep.
4. Flattened the image
5. Made the borders using colours picked up from the image.

I'm quite pleased with the end result.

(I use Photoshop CS3)
